We're building a new site in the heart of Mill Hill East.
The development will provide 23 one-bedroom mobility apartments and 7 two-bedroom mobility apartments as well as an overnight studio apartment for the on-site house manager and a range of communal facilities. It will enable us to transform more lives of people living with physical disabilities and / or vision impairments who are struggling to cope in accommodation that is totally unsuitable to their needs.
The site was previously home to a block of 24 apartments built in 2004. Having done extensive work and financial modelling, we decided that a total redevelopment of the site would result in a more cost-effective, higher quality building that meets the range of needs tenants may have.
The apartments will be designed to meet the needs of people with physical disabilities or vision impairments using latest technology and equipment, with:
Having received planning permission at the start of 2022, work begun on site in August 2022. Our fundraising team will be talking to our generous supporters, individuals & families, Trusts and Foundations to do all we can to raise the additional funds needed to complete this development. Completion of the development is expected to be in spring 2025.
As an independent organisation that receives no government funding, all of our developments have, to date, been funded with the support and generosity of the community. The cost of the project is expected to be in the region of £10m and with several generous gifts pledged, we are now embarking on a fundraising campaign to meet the current £3.5m shortfall.
