Educating the community

We know we have a role to play in educating people to create a more inclusive and supportive society. Attitudes towards people with disabilities have improved in recent times but there is still a long way to go

We run educational programmes that we can offer to your Synagogue or community group.

A member of our team will facilitate a session at your group and share practical tips and advice on supporting people with physical disabilities or vision impairment to remain independent and safe in their own home.

Sessions can be tailored to your audience and we can adapt the length of the session to suit your needs.

Physical disability educational session

Our sessions are interactive, aiming to give attendees a better understanding of how they can live independently, what is available to help and how simple changes can make a big difference to those living with disabilities.

During the session, attendees can experience a selection of aids to help with daily tasks, engage in friendly discussion and share experiences.

Sight loss educational sessions

To increase awareness and understanding about vision impairment and its impact, we have put together an educational session for members of the community. This is an opportunity to learn about some of the challenges of sight loss, how it impacts daily life and hear from individuals with first-hand experience.

An attendee of a previous sight loss educational session said:

“It was incredibly helpful to hear real-life scenarios and learn the best ways to guide someone with sight loss. It gave me a real insight into how overwhelming it can be for someone with vision impairment in a crowded space and I am hoping to implement some changes straight away.”

Samantha from Bushey United Synagogue Prime Time said:

“Your presentation was deeply interesting and very valuable. Our members appreciated learning about the importance of independent living and the various aids and tools available to enhance their quality of life and keep them safe.”
