Sight Loss Support Groups

We have two monthly support groups for Jewish people with visual impairments in London and Hertfordshire. Any adult who is experiencing sight loss and identifies as Jewish is very welcome – as are their friends, carers and family members.

About the sessions

The groups run in Borehamwood on the second Tuesday of each month, 11.30am-1pm and in Finchley on the second Thursday of each month, 11.30am – 1pm.

Sessions are designed for meeting new people and sharing experiences of living with sight loss in a safe environment.

Our guest speakers include:

  • Rohit Jolly, Royal Free Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon
  • Sandie Wassmer, CEO of Enei (only blind female CEO in the UK)
  • Paul Ryb – Opthalmic Venture Capital Investment Specialist
  • Sensory Services Team (Local Authority)
  • RNIB
  • Thomas Pocklington Trust
  • Friends of Moorfields (Eye Care Liaison Officers – ECLO’s)

What our attendees say

One attendee commented: “I have never met anyone else who is living with Charles Bonnet Syndrome. This group has connected me with someone else who understands what I am experiencing, we have already arranged to meet up for coffee outside of the group.”

Another attendee said: “I only ever seem to meet other people with sight loss when I am in a hospital waiting room. This group has been so refreshing and a fantastic way to meet people experiencing similar challenges as I am.”
